Cotton, rayon or silk blend: what each feels like in Thane humidity
13 August 2026 · Style Zone

Fabric decides comfort more than cut does, especially in a coastal city with nine humid months.
Pure cotton
Breathes best and takes a block print beautifully. It creases, it shrinks slightly on the first wash, and it needs an iron. For daily wear in May it is still the most comfortable thing you can own.
Rayon
Drapes like a fluid fabric at a lower price and holds print colour well. It is cooler-feeling than polyester but weaker when wet — never wring a rayon kurta, and dry it flat or on a wide hanger.
Cotton slub and chanderi
Slub has a textured, uneven yarn that hides creasing; chanderi is light with a slight sheen and is the usual choice for occasion sets. Both prefer a gentle wash.
Silk blend and vichitra silk
Used for party and wedding sets. They hold embroidery and sequin work well, and they need dry cleaning rather than a machine.
How we describe it
Each product page names the fabric as supplied to us. Where a piece is a blend, we say blend rather than calling it silk.
